Shadow Witch and the Evil Review

Anyone who has read my rants in the past knows that I do a fairly good job of keeping specific names and websites out of the article. This way I don't seem to come off as flaming or bashing a specific individual and of course to protect the privacy of those who are truly worthless.

However, I fear that by the end of this rant, I will end up exposing someone who provides merit to Anton Lavey's quote “Stupidity should be painful”.

As I scanned through my site meter list one eve, I came across a referring site I did not recognize as one of my usual search engine hits or link sites. So I visited the site to take a look around and see if it was worth a reciprocal link. Lo and behold I found a review of my site. The review poorly represented my site by stating that I had little content (I happen to have over 165 pages on my domain, that is hardly “little” content), stated that my coding was poor and that my website was “irritating”. The reviewer said that I had a few vague references to the sabbats and some “opinion pieces”.

I thought to myself for a few minutes on this and decided to e-mail the reviewer to see if I could possibly convince her to take another look at my site since she obviously missed the stuff I had on the Witch Trials, the history of witchcraft and the entire DACA site.

She replied to my e-mail the next day with a way too defensive and lacquered, pseudo-PR style e-mail that basically said “I gave your site an honest review”. The way I see it, if you miss over 165 pages, you did not do a site justice in a review, especially if your going to say that it has no content. Sorry, but I will not have my site misled by a person whose own site is made up of public domain, stolen and free images. So, I replied to the PR trip e-mail and stated that the only truth in her review was a section where she stated that my page loads slowly. It is true, I will admit it. I also questioned her on how she could state that she gave my site a “fair review” if she missed the best part of my site and a good majority of the pages.

I also questioned her qualifications to be a website critic when her own site basically sucks the big one. I mean every image, save for the text header on her site is stolen and she used ghastly bold font on every page. Among the cliché stolen images are the over used animated pentagrams, a bouncing Tigger, animated ”Wendy” from Peter Pan and a spinning skull. It is obvious this woman cannot make her own graphics, yet she criticizes others who take the time to have their own work on their site. In my opinion, if you can't do it, don't insult others who can.

I decided to take a look at other sites listed in her review section. I came across one who the reviewer said had terrible graphics and the funny thing is, the index graphic on the site is the exact same one she used on her own site. I took a moment to point this out to her in an e-mail and she took such offense that she added a note to my site review saying that I was immature and insulted her and the readers of her reviews.

I was taken aback by the part saying that I insulted her readers and so I decided to ask her exactly what I had said about her review readers because I did not remember mentioning them. In her next e-mail, she threatened to report me to Hotmail for harassment. That was literally all it said. No explanation of how I insulted her readers, no apology for lying about me on her site, nothing. Just a threat.

In my opinion this is omeone wants to play “know it all” about web design and blatantly misleads people about the sites she reviews and when confronted about it, she plays “victim”.

It is obvious that the reviews on the site are not in the least sincere. I mean, how can they give an “F” for graphics to a site that uses the exact same images they do?

She has even now stated that I am "berating her" about things not even remotly connected to the review. Well, lets see, no it is true, her stating that I insulted her "readers" is not connected to the review. That is an outright lie she made up for who knows what reason. If she would simply had pointed out exactly what I said to insult her readers, my last e-mail to her would not have been necessary.

She has even changed the review of my site and calls it the "original truthful review"...hhmm....makes me wish I had copied the original to post here, but ho well.

I guess on the internet, no one lies and everyone is an “expert”, regardless of the subject. As for adding a link to her site, no I will not do that. It is obvious that her site gets MUCH less trafic than mine (just as a refereance, I had 145 hits yesterday, only one came from her site) and I refuse to subject anyone to seeing a site that is both horrid and painful when it comes to originality.

As quoted earlier, “stupidity should be painful”. I am going to go now and fume over the sheer ignorance of people in this world. After dealing with "Shadow Witch", am rapidly losing faith that humanity will carry on until humans evolve into an intelligent species.
